about

Song story: There is a moment that haunts me, a painful moment at a train station that I am hesitant to write about for fear of having one specific person read this sentence and see my naked heart. Feathers
Angela Sheik

Fingers in the fire
Remind me that we
All have parts we need to attend.
Hearts that burn are saying something.
Quick, before they’re quiet again,

Take the scalpel to my skin,
Put some feathers in.
I may bleed and cry
But I’ll soon have wings to fly.

Standing in the doorway,
I see you leaving,
Holding on to one thin string,
Cracking like the Mona Lisa,
Shattered by the sting.

Take the scalpel to my skin,
Put some feathers in.
I may bleed and cry
But I’ll soon have wings to fly.
