Newborn
Words and music by Angela Sheik
Newborn, tender lungs
Grip the morning air.
A timid, curious stare
Pours out from unveiled eyes.
Gently wakened
by a touch of light,
A moon has split the night
And brushes the brightening skies.
Drawn to touch it,
shaky legs will reach
And quickly buckle, each
To fall, but then to rise.
Knowing nothing
but the chilly beams,
The warmest thing, it seems
To ever grace these eyes.
Beauty, heavenly,
Want for the light above
Becomes a raging love
And yet beyond this lies
Brighter, warmer
We’ve only just begun,
We’ve yet to face the Sun,
It‘s mere reflection and we rise.
Drawn to touch it,
shaky legs will reach
And quickly buckle, each
To fall, but then to rise.
Knowing nothing
but the chilly beams,
The warmest thing, it seems
To ever grace these eyes.

In The Park

In the Park
Words and music by Angela Sheik
Taking all my pressure of the window pane
See my finger stain from the cold and rain
In the dark reflection there’s a pair of eyes,
Can’t believe they’re mine.
Looking thru the pattern of bright water ribbons
Out beyond at the empty night…
Can’t face this heavy fight!
I’d rather watch that lonesome walker,
Wonder why he’s out here?
In the park
In the rain
In the dark
No space to breathe between these leather- gilded walls
In this steel frame like a picture we hang,
Glassed in the pain of hoping we can live with no regrets.
Let’s walk and talk it over, baby,
We might find an answer yet…
In the park
In the rain
In the dark
I’m half about to join the dreary weather,
Half about to say “I’m sorry and I’m yours forever,”
Half about to join the dreary weather,
Half about to say, “I love you, and let’s walk together…
In the park
In the rain
In the dark”
There’s a healer in the air, and he said he’d meet us here in the park, in the rain, in the dark.

How Long

How Long
song based on Psalm 13, adaptation and music by Angela Sheik
O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemies have the upper hand?
Turn and answer me, O Lord my God.
Restore the light to my eyes or I will die.
Don't let my enemies gloat, saying, "We have defeated him."
Don't let them rejoice in my downfall.
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you've rescued me,
I will sing to the Lord
because he has been so good to me.

Daughters of Zion
words based on Zephaniah 3, music by Ange&Ris
Sing, o daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart
Sing, o daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
daughter of Jerusalem.
The Lord has taken away your punishment.
He has turned back your enemies.
The Lord, the king of Israel is with you,
never again will you fear any harm.
The Lord our God is with you, he’s mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you.
He will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
On that day, they will say to Jerusalem,
“Do not fear, O Zion, do not let your hands hang limp.”

Love Theme - Dusk
words and melody by Angela Sheik, music by David Schonauer
In your face
forgotten birthdays,
in your face
twilight fades.
Scars in your eyes,
I gaze in and pieces die,
in your face.

Many Are Asking
words based on Psalm 4, music and adaptation by Angela Sheik
Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?"
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.
You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grains and new wine abound.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord,
make me dwell in safety.

Lazarus

Lazarus
words and music by Angela Sheik
I am Lazarus
and Lord, You wait too long,
and so I die,
that You might raise
and glorify
But why? but why?
must I reach such troubled ends
before You come to make amends?
My rescuer, always days late,
must see, He must anticipate
my death
my sin
and won’t begin
to heal until I have reached
cold end
and helplessness
and then appears, miraculous.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
my rescuer (6X)
my rescuer comes miraculously
with power, healing and clarity
that life, freedom
lie in Him,
not me.
